Three people were injured, more than 20 were evacuated

In the center of Astrakhan, on Lyakhova Street, the entrance to a five-story residential building partially collapsed - from the first to the fifth floors. Emergency Situations Ministry employees are on site. More than 20 people were evacuated from the building, three were injured. No deaths have been reported.

According to TASS, the initial version of what happened was a domestic gas explosion, but no leaks were recorded. The Investigative Committee opened a criminal case for negligence and destruction of property through negligence.

A state of emergency at the municipal level has been introduced in the city.

Residents complained about the condition of the house

The house was built in 1962 and was declared unsafe in 2020. It was planned to be demolished this spring, but resettlement never took place.

Astrakhan residents have repeatedly reported cracks in the walls, subsidence of the foundation and a flooded basement. “Residents of the house at 6 Lyakhova are afraid for their lives and the lives of their loved ones. The authorities are most likely expecting a building to collapse, as happened on Vokzalnaya Square,” they wrote back in February 2024.

According to the Investigative Committee, at the beginning of 2024, more than a million people lived in dilapidated houses, a third of them for more than five years.

Last week on Friday, “Layout” talked about the collapse of the entrance to a 10-story building in Saratov, on Blinov Street. The cause, according to preliminary data, was an explosion of a gas-air mixture. Seven people died, including a child.
