The defendant of the case “Hizb Ut-Tahrir” Yashar Shikhametov was transferred to the IK-37 of the Kemerovo region. It is reported by Crimean Solidarity.
The Crimean Tatar was taken to the colony at the end of June. Before that, he was serving four years in Balashov’s prison (Saratov region).
Shihametov was detained in February 2021 after searches in several regions of Crimea. In September 2022, he was found guilty under the article on participation in the activities of a terrorist organization (part 2 of article 205.5 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation)-Hizb Ut-Tahrir-and sentenced to 11 years in prison with the first four years in prison.
According to the security forces, the man, working as a cook in a cafe, conducted an “ideological work”, participating in prohibited meetings and attracting new supporters. Law enforcement officers claimed that he allegedly “led ideological propaganda in a whisper”, which is why his words were difficult to record on audio.
During the consideration of the appeal for the verdict in December 2023, Shihametov became ill, he was carried out on a stretcher from the court session, since he struggled to move due to serious problems with his back. Before the meeting, the convict complained to the lawyer about increasing pain in the heart and kidneys and that medicines do not help. At the cassation meeting in the fall of 2024, the man was brought on a gurney. His lawyer said that a man has problems with the kidneys, spine and liver. In April 2025, Shikhametova was placed in the hospital.
