Putin was reported to the acute shortage of water in the Donbass: in cities it is included once every 2-4 days, pipes tears up to 2000 times a week

Denis Pushilin, annexed to Russia of the Donetsk People’s Republic, at a meeting with President Vladimir Putin, reported to him about the acute shortage of water in the Donbass.

In some cities of the Donetsk-Makeevsky agglomeration, water is supplied “several hours every 2-3 days”, in Mariupol-“once every 2 days”, in Enakievo-“every four days”.

“According to your decision, a water carrier was built, it gives 250 thousand cubic meters of water stably,” and “the required amount of 850 thousand cubic meters was supplied through the Seversky Donets -Donbass channel” (now does not function), ”said Pushilin.

He added details: the brigades clear the congestion along the entire water path to increase the occupancy of the water tanks of the Donbass.

Putin said that he knew that the recently built water water "had not even reached a planned volume", but he is interested in another problem - the loss of water as it moves, which the government reports to him.

Pushilin confirmed : water heels reach 60%.

The reason, according to Pushilin, is just in irregular water supply, which causes even greater wear of the system and constant breakthroughs of pipes:

“We repair, 100 breakthroughs are eliminated daily, and at the peak we reached 2000 breakthroughs per week.”

Pushilin also referred to the overall wear of the infrastructure, which was not repaired "since the 90s." The head of the DPR said that the authorities of the region have already united the entire public utilities into one legal entity so as not to engage in coordination and more efficiently manage repairs.

In January 2025, during hostilities, the Don -Donbass water supply was suspended , and the DPR enterprises received instructions to strictly save water.

In May, Pushilin said that it will fully provide the region with water with water to establish the control of the Russian side over Slavic and the restoration of the destroyed Canal Seversky Donets - Donbass.

The DPR, as well as the LPR, the Zaporizhzhya and Kherson regions partially passed under the control of the Russian army during hostilities. By the decree of Putin, they were attached to Russia as a result of organized referenda and entered into the Constitution of the Russian Federation as its subjects. Most of the international community and Ukraine do not recognize these territories to Russia.
