Employees of the Zaporizhzhya election commission complained about the delay in salaries. Local authorities explained this by the fact that there are too many of them. CEC turned to the prosecutor's office

The CEC of the Russian Federation sent appeals to the Prosecutor General and other bodies about problems in the work of the election commission of the Zaporizhzhya region, said the head of the department Ella Pamfilova.

Prior to this, she entered into a public polemic with the governor of the region Evgeny Balitsky regarding the number of employees of the Zaporizhzhya election commission: Pamfilova recalled that under Russian laws the head of the region does not have the right to establish the number of staffing staff of election commissions, but at the same time he is obliged to co -financing them.

“Therefore, the desire of the leadership of the executive branch of the Zaporizhzhya region causes complete bewilderment to illegally reduce the number by more than two (!) Times aimed, in fact, to the collapse of the regional electoral system ,” the head of the CEC said.

• At the end of July, employees of the Zaporizhzhya election commission, who in September 2022 worked at a referendum on accession to Russia, complained about a delay in salaries for two months.

• On August 1, the regional governor Yevgeny Balitsky accused the central leadership of the CEC of inaction. In his opinion, the problem of payments is due to the fact that the leadership of the election commission contained more employees than provided for by law and budget.

“I said and repeat that a state of 85 people who are involved in work once every two to four years is inappropriate [...],” Balitsky wrote.

• He recalled that in other regions of the Russian Federation, state employees are attracted to the work of election commissions.
