Russian writer, translator and journalist Yevgeny Chizhov (Sominsky) died in the 59th year of life. This was announced by his colleague, playwright Dmitry Danilov.

According to him, Chizhov died as a result of an accident - he drowned in the Baltic Sea. “A very expensive person for me. This loss is a hole in the soul that will never overgrow. Zhenya, dear, rest in peace. I will always remember you, ”Danilov wrote .

Evgeny Chizhov was born in Moscow in 1966. He graduated from the Faculty of Law of Moscow State University. In 1997, he made his debut as a writer, publishing the story "Endless Holiday" in the magazine "Solo".
Chizhov is the author of four novels: “The dark past of a man of the future” (2000), “A character without a role” (2008), “Transfer from the Settail” (2013) and “Paradise Paradise” (2019). The novel “Transfer from the Settail” was the finalist of the Prizes “Yasnaya Polyana” and “Big Book” (we wrote about this book here ). In 2020, Chizhov received the Yasnaya Polyana award for the novel "Collector of Paradise". His last book was the collection of stories “Suicide and other jokers”, published in 2024.
