The New Gazeta Europe continues to explore the motives of Russians who voluntarily go to war with Ukraine. This time we talked with Dmitry (the name changed), a 32-year-old former oil industry from Bashkiria, who, after a reduction, signed a contract with the RF Armed Forces and ended up in Avdeevka.

Dmitry talked about why he went to the front, which he saw with his own eyes and how he was injured. Why did he first hide from the military police, and then decided to leave Russia? How is the consequences of the service and what made him desert?
