Activist Ivan Merezhnikov from Votkinsk (the Republic of Udmurtia) is pursued on criminal cases instituted by the denunciation of the mayor Alexei Kemaev and his daughter Maria. It is reported by "7 × 7".
The first thing against Merezhnikov was excited in June under an article on the illegal use of personal data (Article 272.1 of the Criminal Code). Maria Pretaeva complained that in May 2023 the activist published information about her in his telegram channel: name, date of birth and VIN-code of the car. Then the court sent Merezhnikov under house arrest.
The initiation of the second case under the article on slander (Article 128.1 of the Criminal Code) became known on August 8. The basis for the persecution was the statement of the mayor of Votkinsk. What exactly is charged with an activist is unknown. The court left Ivan Merezhnikov under house arrest until September 11, although the investigator insisted on detention.
At the same meeting, it turned out that the FSB listened for six months to the activist’s calls for “extremism”.
- In 2022, Ivan Merezhnikov published an investigation into the illegal construction of an oil waste training ground near the Votkinsky pond. Due to publicity, the authorities stopped construction. In his free time from investigations, Merezhnikov worked as an electrician.
- In several cities of Udmurtia - Votkinsk , Tchaikovsky , Izhevsk - activists went in support of Merezhnikov with a demand to stop his criminal prosecution.
