The Russian delegation led by President Vladimir Putin flew east - towards the west coast of the United States. Early in the morning of August 15, Putin flew to Magadan, where he made an intermediate stop.

In Magadan, Putin will visit the memorial to the heroes of ALSIBA - participants in the air route who, from 1942 to 1945, delivered American aid under Lend-Lease to the Soviet Union.

It is reported that the head of the RDIF, Kirill Dmitriev, who will take part in the negotiations, has already arrived in Alaska.

The head of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Sergei Lavrov, also made a statement on the morning of September 15. He noted that a lot has already been done in preparation for the meeting, especially as a result of the visits of US Special Representative Steven Witkoff to Moscow.

US President Donald Trump on the evening of August 14 estimated the probability of failure of the negotiation process at 25%. He also said that he views the meeting in Alaska as preparation for a second meeting with the participation of Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky.

Negotiations are due to begin late in the evening on August 15, Moscow time. Ukraine and European countries will not be represented at the meeting.
