The court in Moscow fined Yandex for refusing to provide the FSB access to the information of an intelligent house with a voice assistant Alice, Vedomosti reports.
A fine under the article on non -fulfillment of the order to eliminate violations of the law (part 1 of Article 19.5 of the Administrative Code of the Russian Federation) amounted to 10 thousand rubles. The decision was made on June 10, but the media paid attention to it only now.
The decision emphasizes that earlier Yandex was not brought to such responsibility, but the source of Vedomosti in the information security market called the Yandex refusal to provide the FSB information with an “old history”. According to him, technically this is a fairly expensive procedure, so the company is easier to pay fines.
The lawyer of the “First Department” Yevgeny Smirnov told the “agency” that “he had not previously heard that the FSB somehow publicly tried to get to such equipment [smart house]”. He suggested that in case of access, the special service could use all the capabilities of a smart home, including listening to requests to the Alice voice assistant and access other user gadgets.
