The head of the "Medusa" was fined by the protocol about the connection with the "undesirable" organization because of the credits in an interview with "Popular Policy" and "Radio Liberty"

The Izmailovsky District Court of Moscow fined the editor -in -chief of the Medusa publication Ivan Kolpakov on the protocol on the participation in the activities of an “unwanted” organization (Article 20.33 of the Code of Administrative Offenses). This is stated in the published decision of August 26 , which noticed "Mediazona".

The amount of the fine in the resolution is not disclosed.

The police paid participation in the work of Medusa, which in January 2023 was declared an “undesirable” organization in Russia.

As evidence, the security forces used Kolpakov’s interview with the Popular Politics YouTube channel, where the journalist’s commentary was accompanied by the titer “Medusa editor-in-chief”.

In addition, the police referred to an interview with Kolpakov’s Yutub Radio Liberty Young Channel in 2021, in which he comments on the inclusion of the publication in the register of “foreign agents” of the Ministry of Justice.

“During the viewing of the specified video, starting with a fragment of 00 minutes 13 seconds, the inscription appears: FULL NAME MEDUSA,” the resolution says.

Also, because of this interview, Kolpakov, according to employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, participated in the activities of Radio Liberty, which was declared “undesirable” in February 2024-that is, only three years after the interview.

“According to the results of the audit, the fact of the participation of Ivan Sergeevich Kolpakov in the Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty (RFE/RL) project,” the employees of the 5th department of the Center for Countering the Extraremism of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia came to the conclusion.

For the first time, the protocol about the “undesirable” organization against Kolpakov entered the Moscow court in April 2025, but it was returned to the police, since there was no “data that testifies to Kolpakov’s time in the case materials that the decision to initiate the initiation of the case will take place on April 9, 2025 at 11:00”.

For the second time, the police transferred the court a protocol against a journalist at the end of July.
