Elizabeth Tsurkova was born in 1986 in St. Petersburg in a family of Soviet dissidents of Jewish origin. In the 90s, together with her family, she moved to Israel.
Tsurkova is an expert on Syria and the Middle East. She entered Princeton University at the Department of Political Science. The oriental man is also known for human rights activities: she advocates the rights of Palestinians, migrants, refugees, victims of torture, human trafficking and ethno -religious minorities.
In January 2023, Tsurkova entered Iraq at a Russian passport to work on a doctoral dissertation at Princeton University dedicated to protest movements in the country. After which she was abducted by the militants of the Kataib Hizball group associated with the Iranian Xir.
