Poland and Latvia limited flights by the border with Belarus and Ukraine

Defense Minister Andris Spruds said that from 18:00 Moscow time on September 11, airspace on the eastern border of the country with Belarus and Russia at an altitude of up to 6 km are closing. The measure will act at least until September 18 and can be extended. Latvia after Poland also introduced restrictions on flights.

According to the minister, there is no threat of Latvia, but restrictions are needed to protect against drones and checking the work of air defense systems.

Since September 10, Poland has introduced a ban on flights in areas bordering Belarus and Ukraine. Only military aircraft, as well as state and sanitary aviation in agreement with the authorities, will be able to fly in this zone. For civilian drones, a full round -the -clock ban will be established. The restrictions will last three months - until December 9, 2025.

The decision was made at the request of the operational command of the Polish Armed Forces “in order to ensure state security,” the press release of the Polish Aeronagance Agency said .
