Alexander Lukashenko pardoned 25 people convicted, including under the articles of an “extremist orientation”. This was reported by the BelTA agency with reference to the press service of Lukashenko.

Such a decision, as noted, was made on the eve of the Day of National Unity. According to the press service, 12 women and 13 men received pardon.

“19 people under the age of 40. Many of them have children, and one convicted is a mother of mother. One of the mercy committed a crime at a minor age, ”the report said.

All pardoned “pleaded guilty and repented of the deed, took the obligation to lead a law-abiding way of life,” the press service said.

The Vasna's human rights center notes that among the pardoned there are political prisoners, as the report says about convicts for "crimes of an extremist orientation." How many pardoned political prisoners are still unknown.
