The blogger and author of the telegram channel Sis Masis Samvel Karapetyan was deprived of Russian citizenship, which he had from birth. This was reported to the blogger in his telegram channel, this information was confirmed by his lawyer Violett Volkov.
Karapetyan received the corresponding notification from the Ministry of Internal Affairs in the Tambov Region in May. In the letter, the police indicated that such a decision was made, inter alia, with the implementation of "actions that pose a threat to the national security of the Russian Federation."
“I filed a complaint. I clearly proved that I am a birth citizen: the son of a military personnel of the Russian army who served in the Transcaucasia, and later in Tambov. My parents never had another citizenship, and I did not acquire it, but received, as a child of a military personnel of the Russian army, born in the USSR. He did not receive other citizenship at the time of his father’s service in the Soviet, and then in the Russian army. He was not a citizen of another state, ”the blogger wrote.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs sent the official answer to the complaint of Karapetyan that the decision was upheld. The department also called the Blogger’s citizenship “acquired”. The “Word of Protection” project noted that, according to the Law of the Russian Federation of 06/17/1993 No. 5206-I “On Citizenship of the Russian Federation”, a child of a citizen of Russia or a military personnel who served in the USSR/RF, automatically receives citizenship on the fact of birth. This is not the only law of the Russian Federation, enshrining the principles and rules of the continuity of children of Russian citizens and the USSR.
"Agency" writes with reference to Karapetyan that for a long time he had only Russian citizenship. Only in 2021 he became a citizen of Armenia. The publication also writes that Karapetyan was born in the Georgian SSR, and in Georgia he met the collapse of the USSR. In an interview with the “agency”, the OTD-Info Lawyer Valery Vetoshkina noted that if at the time of the collapse of the USSR, the family lived in the Union Republic and chose the citizenship of the Russian Federation independently, then such citizenship is considered acquired.
Karapetyan himself assumes that such a decision was made by political motives because of his criticism of Russia's policy regarding Armenia.
“I do not exclude that my positions on the channel were the cause: I consistently criticize the Kremlin’s policy regarding Armenia, and it was after that the pressure intensified on me. (Although I always supported and support my). But the main thing is that I have serious reasons to believe that the Azerbaijani diaspora also had a hand here. From the moment the channel was opened, they have been pursuing me, distributed data about my family, threatened and continue to threaten me, up to the murder, ”comments Karapetyan.
