Organizers claim 'political pressure'

Singer Vassy (Vasiliki Karagiorgos), who was supposed to replace a musician from the USA at Intervision 2025 , will not participate in the competition due to an “unforeseen situation,” she told Vorstka.

On September 18, it became known that American singer Brandon Howard, originally announced from the United States, would not be able to participate in Intervision due to unforeseen family circumstances. Vassy was supposed to take his place at the competition, but she did not perform in Moscow either.

“Unfortunately, due to an unforeseen emergency, I had to withdraw and leave. I’m very sorry that I will miss this special moment,” the artist responded in Instagram messages.

Earlier, singer and blogger Ramin Abdulaev, citing sources on the site, said that Vassy was “disqualified at the last moment.” Later, the organizers of the competition announced that Vassy would not take part in the competition “for reasons independent of the US delegation, caused by unprecedented political pressure from the Australian government” (the singer has citizenship of this country).

Vassy said that she became an ambassador for the NOH8 Campaign, a charitable organization that advocates for the promotion of queer marriages and gender equality.

Previously, information that she was an NOH8 ambassador was removed from Vassy’s Wikipedia page. As Vorstka noted, Now a paragraph about this has appeared again on the singer’s page.
