The picture was shot based on the novel by Vladimir Bogomolov “In August of the Forty -Four” (“moment of truth”), the directors are Nikita Vysotsky and Ilya Lebedev. The General Producer of the blockbuster was Konstantin Lvovich Ernst, who dreamed of filming the novel for a quarter century, and recently noticed that the forest is the main character of the picture: "This is the journey of our three heroes into the deepest of his own soul ... To calculate and catch the enemy." Ernst dreamed about this picture for many years. Then there were three launches in production, the directors, the authors of the script changed. The last option was written by Sergey Snezhkin.

“The moment of truth” is an outstanding fascinating bestseller and one of the most mysterious modern works about the war, the famous novel about the work of counterintelligence (translated into three dozen languages, withstood more than 100 editions, the circulation exceeded several millions of copies.). A complex alloy of the state -owned language of documents, a tense detective intrigue that delays you into its funnel, a prosaic, almost everyday description of everyday scouts and their internal monologues. The plot rings are compressed, and Makrovzglyuhglyu to the front in Western Belarus and South Lithuania, the beginning of the military operation narrows, concentrating on the inner world of the heroes, enlarging and bringing them closer.

Vladimir Osipovich did not like the previous adaptation of Mikhail Ptashuk, quite attentive to the text, he said that due to senselessness and ill-conceived improvisations of the director, many episodes were failed, and therefore removed his name from the credits. But the work of Evgeny Mironov as Captain Alekhin he liked. And during the filming, he constantly instructed the actor.

Recently, thanks to the efforts of REN TV and the Zvezda channel, the mini-series “Neman Operation” based on the novel was released. In the foreground was not only Alekhin Alexander Yatsenko, but - unexpectedly - the line of German saboteurs led by agent Mishchenko (Alexei Kravchenko), who received his own development history. “Matilda” (in the novel - the call sign of the conspiracy German agent, the cipher of the front headquarters) in the series acquires flesh and blood. The good role of Sergei Makovetsky, but what does the pilgrims have to do with it?

Everything was shot with the usual “yell” NTV: walking from the film to the film by the props, the technique of “military commissar”. Clean tunic. And fake in every frame.

And here is a new version. A military thriller - with a military and computer scope, a more serious approach to filming. About the edge of the war and the world. August is deceptive, draws a beautiful summer in the fall. It seems that the war is about to end. But there will be a whole year of the war.

The music of the young composer Dmitry Emelyanov resembles the arrangements and scores of "Liquidation".

So, we have a forest the size of France: the Kraiov army, Lithuanian nationalists, Germans hid there ... But finding three enemy ghouls with a walkie -talkie and encryption keys there is still a needle in a haystack. We will have to comb the forest with squares with a risk. And there are only three of them. And the task is under the personal control of Stalin. In the film, the reasons for the search for German saboteurs who sent a radiogram to the enemy are registered more vaguely than in the book. Bogomolov was clear. The transmission of intelligence divers on the movement of our troops threatens to disrupt the preparing strategic offensive of the Soviet troops in the Baltic states.

The senior sergeant Tamantsev, he is also a skill (Nikita Kologriy) carefully checks the documents of all cars on the road. The arrogant, but nervous major with his wife and baby aroused suspicions, which is shared by the direct chief of Tamantsev, the most experienced captain Alekhin (Sergey Bezrukov). Around this nervous moment, Lieutenant Blinov (Pavel Tabakov), who arrived from the hospital in intelligence, joins them. They expose the enemies that take the batteries for the fading radio saboteurs, a dashing shootout is tied.

The center of the film is the brightest in the three Tamans of Nikita Kologriy. Insolent, gambling, dexterous, the sun is spinning on the horizontal bar under the applause of soldiers. With port (often past the original) vocabulary. Suspicious is cunning. Resourceful and reckless: it is necessary to request a decryption at the top to be discovered, but this is a long time, then he literally breaks to the phone, sends a telegram upstairs ... "Everything for the front." Patriotic: “Our birds are not singing for the Germans” - applause in the hall.

Kologrian plays fat, but convincingly within the genre, he is a tricster that raises the temperature of the action.

Blinova, a trainee-operative in the Smersh group, is played by Pavel Tabakov. Its story is the transformation of an inexperienced, naive Muscovite student into a scout who is able to make instant decisions.

Lieutenant General Egorov is one of the last works of Roman Madyanov. The servant to the king, father to the soldiers: his own in the board, formidable, but fair. The hoping for God and on his Nagan.

It is worth noting here that, judging by the reactions of the hall, the overwhelming number of spectators did not read the novel and watched the film, not imagining what was waiting ahead of them. However, those who read and re -read the novel closer to the finale arose a similar feeling.

The authors were quite dashingly moved along the equal -offs of the action they laid, an adventure spy thriller with strong charming heroes, a good dynamics, a verified tempo.

Yes, they did not follow the novel literally, did not give documents, encipher, orders that make up its impressive part. Changed some lines. In particular, Anikushin’s commandant’s office officer in the climax of the meeting with saboteurs replaced the driver Hizhnyak, an old woman-sabotage at the station appeared. They abandoned the internal monologues of heroes, who often look artificial on the screen. Although for the novel it is in the monologues, primarily Alekhinsky, the complexity of the work of Smerashets is revealed. How to convey the mental stream of Alekhin Super Proof, that, having encountered an alien life, he is forced not to console, but to gut a person, extracting the necessary information? "The damned occupation is worse you can’t imagine."

The climax (both in the novel and in the cinema) - the pumping of saboteur Mishchenko, when Alekhin squats before the enemy, slowly unleashes a gap knot, risking his own head and asking simple questions. Strengthened approximation to exposure. The moment of truth. Bogomolov describes how a giant military operation is being prepared in parallel, which will entail unthinkable victims, but literally a minute before its beginning, Alekhin pumps Mishchenko.

For Vladimir Bogomolov, there was a super -shaped one most important through thought of the novel, which flowed from the authors of the film. This is how he himself told me about this in the last interview :

“Three officers are looking for an enemy radio station. They are damaged for 16 hours - there are not enough people. But it practically turns out that no one needs it. On interception - a whole queue for decryption. Wait ... But by some chance, Stalin put his eyes on the paragraph about this specific wanted list in a daily report. And a huge state car began to rotate. The most monstrous is the behavior of people who are near Stalin. Most of all, they are afraid for their life, career, advance. Ready to get out inside out. The flywheel is spinning. And three below are still doing their job. Here it is, the system ... "

There is a feeling that some important points of history have fallen at the installation stage. For example, the hallucinations of Tamantsev have not been explained in any way, during which he sees the nearest events.

Nevertheless, about three quarters of the film everything goes like clockwork, albeit in the independent regime of the action, standing from the novel, but listening to it. The genre dictates the rules. There are accurate details: an ink spot on the lip from a chemical pencil, bursting with the tension of vessels in the eye, a cunning methodology for remembering faces.

However, closer to the final, the authors switch from Bogomolov to Chapaev. The massacre with the environment begins, the number of which is multiplying the defenders of the village. Lieutenant General Egorov and his people are especially heroically beating with the inconspicuous enemy. The Germans are advancing, already surrounded. Generals are forbidden to attack. But not Egorov ... And only thanks to our scouts who straightened up the saboteurs and gave the Germans to retreat, “the grandmother arrived” and at the last moment saved everyone.

By the way, it is known that the film "Chapaev" has two finals. In the original, Vasily Ivanovich dies. And in the video shot for the front during the war, the hero of Babochkina emerges for the sake of lifting the spirit. Suddenly someday the authors of August will decide to re-re-final. And do it like Bogomolov ...
