Trump's special envoy: US does not limit Ukraine's use of weapons

Ukraine can strike with long-range American weapons on the internationally recognized territory of Russia, US President Donald Trump does not prohibit this, his special envoy Keith Kellogg said in an interview with Fox News.

Asked whether Trump's position was that the Armed Forces could carry out such strikes, Kellogg said: “I think, given what he said and what Vice President [J.D.] Vance and Secretary of State [Marco] Rubio said, the answer is yes. Take advantage of the opportunity to make long-range strikes."

Kellogg noted that on Russian territory “there are no inviolable places.”

The Wall Street Journal wrote on September 26 that Trump is ready to lift restrictions on strikes with American weapons on targets in Russia. As officials from the United States and Ukraine told the publication, Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky asked him about this at a meeting on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York. Trump replied that he did not mind.

From the very beginning of the war, the United States and other Western countries refused to allow Ukraine to fire their weapons into internationally recognized Russian territory, fearing that this could lead to an escalation of the conflict. Russian President Vladimir Putin, in turn, stated that such a resolution would mean that “NATO countries are at war with Russia.”

At the end of 2024, the Joe Biden administration allowed Ukraine to limitedly use long-range ATACMS missiles to strike the Russian Federation - in particular, the border areas of the Kursk region, where fighting was taking place at that time.

Trump, however, stated even before his inauguration that he “strongly disagreed” with Biden’s decision. After Trump returned to the White House, the de facto ban on the use of ATACMS to strike targets in Russia began to apply again. At the end of August, The Wall Street Journal wrote that for many months the Pentagon refused relevant requests from Ukraine, and this applied not only to ATACMS missiles, but also to the British Storm Shadow, since technically their use depends on data received from the United States.

Trump has dramatically changed his rhetoric regarding the Russian-Ukrainian war in recent weeks. After a meeting with Zelensky on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York, he, in particular, said that Ukraine is capable of “returning all its territory within its previous borders” and “perhaps even going further.”

Blackout in Belgorod

Most of Belgorod was left without electricity as a result of a missile attack by the Armed Forces of Ukraine on the Belgorod Thermal Power Plant and other energy infrastructure facilities.

The thermal power plant was hit on September 28 at about seven in the evening. As a result, entire areas were without power, including street lighting, traffic lights stopped working, and many people were stuck in elevators.

The power also went out in some nearby settlements, which are supplied by the Belgorod Thermal Power Plant, including Shebekino and Stary Oskol.

Soon, Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov announced that the electricity supply was being transferred to backup circuits, and about two hours later, electricity began to be restored. However, a large number of areas remained without power throughout the night. The shutdown of pumps also caused interruptions in water supply.

As of this morning, some houses in Belgorod remained without electricity and heating. In some houses where the light had previously been returned, it disappeared again.

In some parts of the city, shops were closed in the morning, traffic lights continued to be interrupted, and traffic controllers came out onto some streets. By midday, authorities reported that they had restored power to 90% of customers.

Users of social networks noticed that in the house where Governor Gladkov lives, there was light all night and “the sound of a generator could be heard.” In response, the official stated that he had “neither hot nor cold water” and had to wash himself at work.

I have always been a rational atheist and believed that you need to rely on yourself, screw around, and everything will work out. And recently, in some kind of desperation, I ordered delivery of the Ukrainian flag. Because I thought that when there was victory and we all took to the streets, I would have nothing to hang out of the car. Well, maybe buying a flag will bring this day closer. And today a rocket hit a house next to the house of my loved ones near Kiev. I’m thinking, maybe I shouldn’t have come up with the flag like that.
