The European Union will allocate two billion euros to Ukraine for the production of drones. This was stated by the head of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen.

“If we continue to believe that Ukraine is our first line of defense, we must increase military assistance to Ukraine. Therefore, we agreed that a total of two billion euros will now be spent on drones,” she said.

Von der Leyen explained that the allocated funding will help Kyiv improve its own defense capabilities, as well as develop the latest technologies in the field of drones, which will also be useful for the European Union.

In the EU over the past few weeks, there has been active talk about the need to strengthen protection against drones. They began after more than two dozen drones violated Polish airspace. Fighter planes were scrambled to destroy them - experts noted that it was too expensive to shoot down drones in this way and pointed out that this could be a vulnerability that the Russian Federation could exploit in the future.

To resolve this issue, the European Commission has proposed a “drone wall” project. It involves the coordinated purchase by EU countries of cheap protective systems to combat drones. Initially, it was assumed that the “drone wall” would be deployed only on the eastern borders of the European Union, but later - against the backdrop of the regular appearance of unidentified drones in Denmark - it was proposed to expand the project to the entire EU territory.

Ursula von der Leyen previously stated that the European Union intends to create a “drone alliance” with Ukraine in order to adapt extensive Ukrainian experience to the needs of the EU.

In Ukraine, since the beginning of the war, the production of drones has increased many times. In 2022, only a few thousand devices were produced there per year; by 2025, their number increased, according to various estimates, to several tens or several hundred thousand per month.

In 2024, a special branch of the military was created in Ukraine - the Unmanned Systems Forces, which at that time had no analogues in the world. At the end of September 2025, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Alexander Syrsky, announced that another branch of the military associated with drones would appear in the armed forces - unmanned air defense systems.

Anton . Three years after February 2022, the feelings remained the same: rejection of violence and horror of what was happening. The only difference now is that all emotions have dulled, there is no such acute reaction as there was at first. Is there any hope for a quick end to the conflict? Perhaps not anymore. But I still want to believe that this horror cannot last forever, February is not eternal.

The thought of how many victims there will be during this time is driving me crazy. The thought of a possible (next) mobilization announcement is also driving me crazy. It’s difficult to live in constant tension; you don’t know what the next day will bring. One thing is clear: the world community is powerless against evil. But I really want peace as soon as possible!
