TASS and Kommersant reported the arrest of billionaire Ibragim Suleymanov in an old murder case

Billionaire Ibragim Suleymanov was detained in Moscow, TASS and Kommersant reported, citing sources in law enforcement agencies.

“He is accused of organizing the contract murder of the former head of the Federal Service for Financial Recovery and Bankruptcy Georgy Tal in 2004,” the newspaper writes.

According to the anonymous telegram channel “VChK-OGPU”, a few days ago a man named Abakar Darbishev was detained on suspicion of murder, who testified against Suleymanov, and then died in a security forces car on the way to carrying out investigative actions.

The channel also claims that Suleymanov is also suspected of organizing the murder of the leader of the Vnukovo Airlines ground services trade union, Gennady Borisov, which occurred in 1999.

As The Bell notes , Suleymanov “at least a year ago” was the beneficiary of the Sirena-Travel company, which develops software for airlines, including the Leonardo ticket reservation system. “Important Stories” adds that 80% of air tickets in Russia are sold through it, and notes that just yesterday Kommersant wrote about complaints about the company received by the Federal Antimonopoly Service.

The company is part of Rostec; last year, two of its deputy general directors - Igor Roitman and Alexander Kalchuk - became accused of an attack on the critical information infrastructure of Russia, which resulted in grave consequences (Part 5 of Article 274.1 of the Criminal Code). They were not placed under arrest.

In addition, Suleymanov, writes The Bell , “was called Suleiman Kerimov’s partner in Vnukovo Airlines and the son-in-law of Yukos co-founder Platon Lebedev.”

Kommersant calls him a “shadow billionaire.” It is noted that Suleymanov was detained in 2004 and subsequently convicted of embezzlement; in 2015, he was released on parole.
