In Yekaterinburg, teenagers attack trams - throwing firecrackers and stones. The mayor’s office called the situation “critical” and asked for help from the Ministry of Internal Affairs

The Yekaterinburg mayor's office asks the city department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs to sort out the situation with hooligans who are “terrorizing” public transport drivers. This is stated in a letter from the vice-mayor of the city, Rustam Galyamov, to the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for Yekaterinburg, Viktor Poznyak, writes 66.ru.

“The situation has become critical. Further deterioration threatens the safety of transportation. If the situation does not change, we will be forced to suspend tram service,” the letter says. The mayor's office asked to install police patrols in dangerous areas, conduct preventive work with teenagers and take action on previous complaints that the administration has been writing since May.

According to E1.ru, teenagers mainly attack trams and passengers in the Vtorchermet area. The first complaints appeared in May of this year. According to the publication, at first the teenagers, who appeared to be 11-15 years old, formed groups and rode on the couplings of tram cars. However, then they began to throw dirt, eggs and stones at the trams, and threw firecrackers and metal objects under the cars. Some of the teenagers ran into the trams and tried to open the doors as they went. Drivers and conductors said that they were ready to give up servicing the Solnechny, Vtorchermet and Keramika areas.

On the afternoon of October 5, one of the teenagers shot a tram driver in the leg with an air pistol. Channel “Ekaterinburg. The main thing" reported that the incident occurred in the Vtorchermet area. The driver tried to “reason” with the teenagers who were “having fun while driving,” and ended up being shot in the leg. The shooter was detained ; he turned out to be a ninth grade student.

In June it was reported that the police found out where the teenagers were gathering and came to them along with “representatives of the people’s squad.” The teenagers were detained, had a preventive conversation with them and were released.

According to the EAN publication, members of the local nationalist organization “Russian Community” will take up the fight against teenagers who attack trams. They are going to organize “normal leisure” for teenagers.
