The extradition to Germany of Ukrainian citizen Vladimir Zhuravlev, detained in Poland on suspicion of undermining the Nord Stream gas pipeline system, does not meet the state interests of Poland, Prime Minister Donald Tusk said on October 7.

“It is not my role to delve into why a Ukrainian citizen came to Poland again, despite the fact that a European arrest warrant was issued against him, but our position has not changed. It is in Poland's interests not to accuse or extradite this citizen to another state. The decision will be made by the court,” Tusk said (quoted by PolsatNews).

Diving instructor from Ukraine Vladimir Zhuravlev was detained in Poland at the end of September at the request of Germany. According to German investigators, he participated in the installation of explosive devices on gas pipelines of the Nord Stream system.

In the case of blowing up the Nord Streams, two citizens of Ukraine were detained in August and September -Vladimir Zhuravlev in Poland and Sergei Kuznetsov in Italy. A court in Italy decided to extradite Kuznetsov to Germany.
