“Poland will stubbornly fight the imperial approach in the system of international relations.” Political scientist Lukasz Adamski on why war between Poland and Russia is quite real

The events of last month have strained Russian-Polish relations. Some believe that foreign drones in Polish airspace are a provocation, a test of NATO’s defense capabilities, and maybe even more - a reason to be drawn into war. Is war possible between Russia and Poland? Political scientist, specialist in the history of Eastern European countries, and deputy director of the Juliusz Mieroszewski Center for Dialogue, Lukasz Adamski, helped figure this out.

— Presumably, Russian aircraft began to fly into the territory of NATO countries. Recently, 19 drones were shot down over Polish territory. Then two Russian fighter jets flew over the Petrobaltic oil platform in the Baltic Sea, and three Russian MiG-31s ​​spent 12 minutes in Estonian airspace. In your opinion, what is the reason that the situation has reached such events?

— Such incidents will most likely continue to be repeated. I, of course, would not want this to happen. But I'm afraid that this will happen. And this will be so, firstly, due to the fact that Poland is a country that directly borders Ukraine, Russia, and Belarus. These are the areas from which drones are often launched. And even if there were no special intentions to send drones to Poland, this could happen.

I just remembered an incident where a Ukrainian missile, launched to intercept a Russian missile, went off course, fell in a Polish village and accidentally killed two people. Fighting takes place along the Polish border. And this suggests that such incidents may happen again and again.

But the latest incidents are not an accident. These drones did not enter Polish territory by mistake. This was a deliberate action. Here you can speculate about what the purpose of this action was. It seems to me that there were several goals here. Of course, you cannot start a war against Poland and against NATO.
