Probably, Bartoshevich is the last in the galaxy of great theater scholars of the country, whose words and personality were significant both for the people of the theater and for its processes.

Everyone loved Alexei Vadimovich. The subject itself, the English theater, Shakespeare, the great Shakespeare, loved him in return: the most accurate texts, beautiful books, guesses and discoveries, paid for by life's service. Bart studied the Bard out of close interest - the further, the deeper. They once joked that to the question “For whom was Hamlet written” (that was the name of one of his books) there is a main answer: first of all, for Bart!

It was not banal consciousness, talent for ideas , knowledge of human nature that helped him rise to unattainable—Shakespearean—heights. Moreover, the biography was compiled from more than one academic activity. Professor Bartoshevich always remained aware of modern action, new phenomena and faces, new language - the modern life of the theater. His voice was clear in the chaos and white noise of today, the angles of his gaze were unexpected and wise.

But one of Bart's best creative achievements was himself. Delicate, doubtful, hesitant in his choice of words and inexorably true in his assessments. As if he embodied in his life behavior the basic principle of Hamlet - doubt, reflection as an absolute humanitarian value.

And, of course, the culture of the old Moscow Art Theater genetically lived in him, where an artist grew up on the roots of a worthy person, where genius and villainy remained incompatible not only in open movements, but also in the secrets of private existence.

Perhaps that is why students adored him so much - he himself testified: the highest theatrical values ​​​​exist! He knew how to remain kind, knowing the price of everything. He knew how to spare both people and performances.

Alexey Vadimovich lived a truly happy life: books, students, reputation, tenderness and respect from everyone - his presence in the environment remained important until the last hour.
