A court in annexed Sevastopol sentenced a 39-year-old local resident to 13 years and 3 months in prison under articles of “treason” and “vandalism”

The Sevastopol City Court sentenced a 39-year-old local resident to 13 years and 3 months in a general regime colony in the case of pro-Ukrainian inscriptions and cooperation with foreign intelligence services, the local prosecutor's office reported. The woman was found guilty of “treason” and “vandalism” “motivated by political hatred.” In addition to the actual sentence, she was sentenced to a year and a half restriction of freedom.

According to investigators, from April to November 2023, she collected information about the movements of Russian warships and aircraft, as well as the deployment of military personnel in annexed Sevastopol. The woman allegedly transmitted this data via messengers to the Ukrainian special services.

In addition, she was accused of writing graffiti insulting Vladimir Putin and supporting the Ukrainian armed forces, which she left on benches and other amenities in a local park.

As Mediazona * learned, we are talking about Ksenia Svetlishina, who was already tried in this case in 2024, sentenced to 5 years and three months in prison. At the same time, during the first consideration of the case, she was charged with less serious charges and there was no charge of treason.

In February of this year, the verdict was confirmed by the Third Court of Appeal, but the prosecutor and defense appealed the decision in cassation. As a result, the cassation court overturned the verdict and returned the case to the prosecutor. After that, the charge “confidential cooperation” was replaced with “treason” and the sentence was increased by eight years.
