Queues for car registration do not have time to clear before recycling collection

On the eastern borders of Russia, there are still congestions of car transporters with cars that are rushing to clear customs before December 1 before the start of the increased recycling fee for cars with a capacity of over 160 hp.

The price of the issue is very high : the new rates can add about another 1 million rubles to the price of an ordinary Chinese crossover - about 4 million rubles. Moreover, funds from the recycling collection are already included in the budget.

• According to Kommersant sources, there are about 4 thousand car carriers, or about 20 thousand cars, awaiting clearance at the borders with China and Kazakhstan. The situation is worse at points where cars are registered for personal use - it is clear that not everyone will make it in time.
• Customs statistics already allow us to estimate the growth in demand for recycling collection - in October it was about a third month on year. From the beginning of the year to mid-November, according to statistics from the Federal Customs Service, almost 290 thousand cars were registered for personal use, which is higher than the result of the entire 2024 year.
• The Federal Customs Service believes that peak loads have passed and checkpoints are operating as normal.
