The fight against corruption is not terrorism

The decision of the Russian Supreme Court to recognize the Anti-Corruption Foundation as a “terrorist organization” demonstrates only one thing: the state no longer hides the fact that it perceives independent control over power as a threat. When the fight against corruption is called terrorism, it is not about protecting people from terror, but about trying to silence those who speak out about crimes.

This interpretation of “terrorism” makes journalists, investigators and human rights activists vulnerable. The law ceases to protect society because it is not violence that is declared terrorism, but attempts to draw public attention to corruption. The Russian authorities actually say that it is not theft that is dangerous, but its exposure - although it is unpunished corruption that leads to poverty, violence and war.

No terminology will change the obvious: society knows who and what really undermines the security of people and the future of the country.
