The Pantone Color Institute has announced neutral white as the main color of 2026. The shade is called “Cloud Dancer”. It aims to “bring calm, clarity and creative breath to this noisy world,” the company says .
Pantone representatives emphasize that neutral white allows you to concentrate and relax, despite the surrounding “cacophony” and an endless stream of distractions.
Institute Vice President Laurie Pressman explained that Cloud Dancer also symbolizes the desire for a more humane and balanced world. “He inspires us to reconsider how we interact with others, think beyond the clouds and be open to new possibilities. And like any new beginning or clean slate, Cloud Dancer reminds us that the future belongs to each of us,” she said .
The Pantone Color Institute began choosing a color of the year back in 1999 to draw attention to how cultural processes are reflected in the language of color. According to Vice President Laurie Pressman, the choice of shade is the result of continuous analysis of global trends, which is carried out by a whole team of experts. They study the influence of film, art, fashion, technology, social media and major events on visual and cultural trends. Pressman calls the team members “anthropologists of color.”
Specialists compare the mood of the era with the corresponding color scheme and create new shades if the existing palette does not accurately convey the idea.
Last year's color of the year was Mocha Mousse, which Pantone experts describe as sophisticated, lush and at the same time unpretentious.
