The draw for the 48-team 2026 FIFA World Cup took place in Washington at the Kennedy Center on December 5.
During the drawing, the participants were divided into 12 groups. Group A includes the teams of Mexico and South Africa, which will meet in the opening match of the 2026 World Cup; South Korea became the third member of the group, and the fourth member will be determined in March.
As Sports notes , in other groups the matches stand out: Brazil - Morocco, France - Norway, England - Croatia, Spain - Uruguay, Portugal - Colombia.
At the draw ceremony, as reported by Reuters, the International Football Federation (FIFA) honored US President Donald Trump. He became the first winner of the FIFA World Prize, which was established in November 2025. He was honored for his efforts to promote dialogue and de-escalation in some of the world's hottest spots.
