In the Angarsk district of the Irkutsk region, after the accident at CHPP-9, an emergency situation was introduced. This was announced by the mayor of Angarsk Sergei Petrov. According to him, the heat supply is limited in 1,546 apartment buildings, where more than 167 thousand people live, as well as in 121 socially significant facilities.
Telegram channel Baza claims that there is no heat in 1,546 houses out of 1,822.
According to the mayor, the situation is expected to stabilize on December 10. He said that on the night of December 8, power engineers lit the fifth boiler unit, and the repair of the sixth boiler was also being completed.
Due to the drop in temperature, six schools have switched to distance learning, and in two more only elementary grades are studying remotely. In five preschool institutions and one kindergarten, the temperature dropped below 17 degrees, so the children were temporarily transferred to other kindergartens.
“We are prepared for the fact that due to lower temperatures we may have difficulties in social institutions and in residential buildings. Temporary accommodation centers for six thousand people have been deployed,” wrote Sergei Petrov. The official also recommended additional insulation of windows in kindergartens.
