The Russian part of the Arctic makes up almost 30% of the area of the entire country. The authorities are making a strategic bet on the region and believe that “Russia will grow with the Arctic” and pay attention primarily to the resource wealth of these lands. At the same time, it is the geographic scale that influences the economic availability of these resources. And we must always remember this - as well as the fact that these are not just lines and points on the map, but places where people live and the eco-environment is structured in a special way. The extractivist approach involves overcoming geography and space, with which the life of people in the region and the state of the environment are inextricably linked. Our map will be regularly updated as new investigations and analytical materials are published.
The Arctida map is based on the borders of the Arctic zone of the Russian Federation. Municipalities included in the AZ of the Russian Federation are highlighted in light blue. Each point on the map is a separate infrastructure project, and its description and links to our materials are available in a separate window that pops up when clicked. The map is regularly updated as new materials are published.
A separate line represents the approximate route of the Northern Sea Route. By clicking on any part of it, you can go to its description and related materials.
