“Take a bite, Muscovites!”

Moscow before the New Year is very elegant. And other cities in Russia have their own “fairy tale”. Their residents showed it. Take a look too

Across the country, Russians are “admiring” how their cities have been decorated for the New Year celebrations. To the music from the ballet “The Nutcracker” and the waltz “Once Upon A December” from the cartoon “Anastasia” (try to get them out of your head now), they show the “New Year’s fairy tale” that the local authorities tried to create for them. And in some places they didn’t even try.

Someone couldn't contain their emotions when they saw the New Year's decorations. For example, Seryoga from Siberia was so amazed by the Christmas tree in his city that he could only express his feelings with obscenities. Other cities, including Arkhangelsk, were “lucky” not only with decorations, but also with the weather. But in the video, cars against the background of a Christmas tree with two garlands can epically cut through a puddle to the music of Tchaikovsky.

Sometimes the decorations that the authorities of Russian cities decide to install are really strange and only vaguely resemble the main symbol of the New Year. And other installations are even a little scary.

Somewhere, private establishments did a better job than the authorities in creating a New Year’s mood for local residents.

It seems that the trend began as a response to videos of users admiring New Year's decorations in Moscow. At the very least, many authors refer to the capital of Russia and with irony (not always kind) invite Muscovites to “take a bite”, comparing the decor in their city with Moscow.

Judging by the videos, Moscow really did their best this year. Social networks were especially struck by Manezhnaya Square and the Christmas trees under the domes near the Sklifosovsky Research Institute.

Although perhaps not all city residents are impressed.

At the same time, the Moscow authorities spent less money on decorating the city than the administration of St. Petersburg, which for the third year in a row became the record holder for spending on the holiday. But St. Petersburg residents still did not understand where this money went.

While some Russians ridiculed the decorations in their cities, others showed beauty no worse than in Moscow. Just look at this gorgeous spruce in Tula!
