Nike has introduced a new sneaker model called Mind. According to the manufacturer, these shoes can reduce anxiety and increase the concentration of their owner.
The peculiarity of the model lies in the design of the sole. It contains special convex elements, in other words, large “pimples” that stimulate the foot in a special way when walking. The price for the new model starts at $95.
In addition to sneakers, the Mind line was also complemented by clogs similar to Crocs, designed for recovery before and after exercise. Each pair of these shoes contains 22 movable foam elements that independently act on the foot with each step. The company calls this development its first line of shoes based on neuroscience, but emphasizes that it is not a medical product.
Nike also says it tested the shoes using methods to measure brain activity, including electroencephalography, during development. According to the company, when wearing Mind, increased activity was recorded in the sensory areas of the cerebral cortex compared to regular shoes. However, the company did not publish data from independent clinical studies.
The first reviews of the new Nike line have already appeared in foreign publications. One of the journalists who tested both versions noted that he did not feel a pronounced effect of reducing anxiety in one day. At the same time, according to him, the shoes give an unusual and pleasant physical sensation. “There is a stronger sense of contact with the surface, each step feels more conscious,” the author writes. He found it especially comfortable to wear clogs, not sneakers.
