Special Representative of the President of Russia Kirill Dmitriev will meet in Davos with Special Envoy of the US President Steve Witkoff and the son-in-law and adviser to the American leader Jared Kushner. Axios journalist Barak Ravid reported this. According to him, the meeting will take place on Tuesday, January 20, and will be devoted to discussing the US peace plan for Ukraine.
Earlier, Reuters reported about Dmitriev’s visit to Davos for negotiations with the American side. The head of the Ukrainian delegation, Rustem Umerov, confirmed that negotiations with US representatives to resolve the conflict will continue at the World Economic Forum.

Dmitriev himself on the social network X announced the European Union’s attempts to undermine Donald Trump’s peace plan for Ukraine by slipping “numerous poison pills.” This is how he commented on Politico’s material that Europe’s lack of understanding of Trump’s desire for a settlement could deprive the EU of diplomatic flexibility.
According to Dmitriev, one reason for Europe's action is that "after decades of saying that Russia has no say in security matters within its own borders, reaching a deal that would cement a compromise on this issue seems too difficult [an issue] to consider." The second reason, he believes, is more cynical and is associated with the desire to gain time to build up the EU’s military potential and delay the moment “when the time comes to pay for the costs of restoring Ukraine.”
The World Economic Forum takes place in Davos from January 19 to 23, while official Russian representatives have not been invited to it since 2022. The Financial Times writes that the topic of Ukraine at the forum faded into the background due to discussion of the situation around Greenland and US threats to introduce duties.
US President Donald Trump will be in Davos on January 21–22. He did not confirm plans to meet with Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky, but allowed contacts. Trump previously stated that he considers Zelensky one of the reasons for the lack of a peace agreement, and noted that Russian President Vladimir Putin is supposedly “ ready to make a deal .”
