The court sentenced four defendants in the case of the murder of the head of the RKhBZ troops Igor Kirillov to terms ranging from 18 years to life

The 2nd Western District Military Court in Moscow issued a verdict against the defendants in the case of the murder of the head of the RKhBZ troops, Lieutenant General Igor Kirillov. According to the press service of the Investigative Committee, Akhmadzhon Kurbonov was sentenced to life imprisonment, Robert Safaryan - 25 years in prison, Batukhan Tochiev - 22 years, Ramazan Padiev - 18 years.

Kurbonov will serve his sentence in a special regime colony. Safaryan, Tochiev and Padiev will be sent to maximum security colonies.

The defendants were charged with participation in a terrorist community, committing a terrorist attack by an organized group, illegal trafficking in explosives and training for the purpose of carrying out a terrorist attack. It is also clarified that due to their actions, property damage was caused to the owners of 27 apartments and 13 cars.

Investigators claim that the persons involved in the case are the perpetrators of the terrorist attack on December 17, 2024 in Moscow, as a result of which the head of the radiation, chemical and biological defense troops Igor Kirillov and his assistant Ilya Polikarpov were killed. At the same time, a terrorist attack was being prepared on the territory of Ukraine, the Investigative Committee emphasizes.

According to investigators, in the fall of 2024, the organizers planned the delivery of explosive device components “disguised as household items” from Poland to Russia. They were delivered to Safaryan, who kept them at his home and, after “receiving instructions,” handed them over to the perpetrator of the terrorist attack, Kurbonov.

Kurbonov, allegedly, “under the control of his curators,” assembled an explosive device, equipped it with destructive elements and attached it to an electric scooter, which he left at the entrance of the Sreda residential complex, where Kirillov lived. When the general went outside, Kurbonov, investigators believe, remotely detonated a bomb and then tried to hide in a “safe apartment.” According to the Investigative Committee, it was found and paid for by Tochiev and Padiev.

The Investigative Committee adds that the investigation continues into the internationally wanted accomplices of the crime who were arrested in absentia, including “a citizen of Ukraine living in the territory of the European Union.” His name is not specified.
