The prosecutor requested 8 years in prison for an employee of the Kurchatov Institute in St. Petersburg in the case of military “fakes”

The prosecution asked the court to sentence technician Dmitry Bogmut to 8 years in a general regime colony in the case of disseminating military “fakes” (Part 2 of Article 207.3 of the Criminal Code), Bumaga reported , citing its correspondent in the Gatchina City Court.

According to investigators, from March 23 to June 21, 2023, Bogmut published anti-war materials on the Internet from his workplace at the St. Petersburg Institute of Nuclear Physics, which is part of the Kurchatov Institute.

In particular, the equipment was accused of a post with a video “Attack on Pavlograd, how Putin is preparing for a defensive war and undermines the combat effectiveness of the Russian army” by the German Deutsche Welle.

In April 2024, Bogmut was sent to a pre-trial detention center. The Gatchina City Court has been considering his criminal case since January 2025.

Journalists noticed that people in camouflage came to the hearings in the Bogmut case and prevented activists and other listeners from entering the courtroom.

Some of the listeners received threats after their names were published by the state agency TASS, calling the people “pro-Ukrainian activists.”

In particular, RusNews correspondent Elina Kozich, who was on this list, said that among the insults she was offered to “change her last name to Zakhokhlina.”
