A citizen of Germany and Ukraine was arrested in Berlin on suspicion of collecting information for Russian intelligence services. This was reported by the German Federal Prosecutor's Office.
The woman’s name is Ilona V. According to investigators, at least since November 2023, she has been in contact with intelligence representatives who, under the guise of diplomats, worked at the Russian Embassy in Berlin.
“She collected information about participants in important political events, as well as information about the location of arms industry enterprises, testing of drones and planned deliveries of drones to Ukraine,” the prosecutor’s office said in a release.
The investigation claims that for her own purposes the woman communicated with acquaintances, former employees of the German Ministry of Defense. She also helped her contact at the Russian embassy attend unnamed political events under false names.
In addition, Deutsche Welle reported the detention in Brandenburg of Russian citizen Suren A. and German citizen Falko H., who are suspected of supporting two “terrorist organizations” - the DPR and the LPR.
It is clarified that the men held leadership positions in the organization Friedensbrücke-Kriegsopferhilfe (“Bridge of Peace - Help for Victims of War”), which sends humanitarian aid, medicine and drones to the Russian-occupied regions of eastern Ukraine.
