The “Glory to Russia” stamp on the stomach of Ukrainian prisoner of war Andrei Pereverzev was made during an operation at the largest hospital in Donbass, the Donetsk Clinical Territorial Medical Association (DOKTMO). The Radio Liberty project “Schemes” was able to find out this.

The Ukrainian military man Pereverzev, who was released in May 2025 as a result of an exchange, said that before being captured by the Russians, he was blown up by a grenade that happened to be right under him.
After a series of beatings and interrogations, the Russian military took the Ukrainian Armed Forces fighter with serious injuries to the hospital. The “schemes” established that Pereverzev ended up in DOKTMO - this is evidenced by the layout of the medical facility and the view from the window, which the military man remembered.

In addition, Pereverzev remembered that the nurse who came to him after the first dressing said: “Don’t worry. When you come home, you’ll either take him out, or you’ll kill him with a tattoo.”
The “schemes” suggested that the inscription on the body was burned by the military surgeon who operated. This is evidenced, in particular, by the fact that the mark is quite even and was made with a medical instrument on the right side, on which the doctor usually works.
Already in the second hospital in Donetsk, where Pereverzev was transported, the nurses said among themselves that the mark on the prisoner’s stomach was made by a Russian doctor, the Ukrainian Armed Forces fighter recalled.
The fact that it was not the Donetsk doctor who burned the inscription was said in a conversation with “Schemes” by a nurse from Donetsk, Tatyana Tregulova, the one who first informed Pereverzev about the mark.
The project found out that Russian doctors from the group “Friends of Donbass Medicine” regularly come to DOKTMO. Among them is the Moscow surgeon and State Duma deputy from United Russia Badma Bashankaev.
“Schemes” found out that on the day of Pereverzev’s operation - February 24, 2024 - two Krasnodar doctors who were members of the Friends of Donbass Medicine group were in the Donetsk hospital: abdominal surgeon Yuri Kuznetsov and proctologist surgeon Andrei Kryachko. This is evidenced by posts on their social networks and metadata of the photos they published.
At the same time, Kuznetsov, in a conversation with journalists, first denied that he was with Kryachko at DOKTMO that day, and then stated that he and his colleague only delivered humanitarian aid and consulted doctors.
Journalists were unable to determine who exactly – Kuznetsov or Kryachko – burned the mark on Pereverzev’s body.
