Processor manufacturer Nvidia, Microsoft Corporation and Amazon are in talks to invest $60 billion in OpenAI (ChatGPT developer), writes the Financial Times.
According to the publication's sources, Nvidia plans to invest up to $20 billion in OpenAI, Amazon - $10 billion or more. Microsoft, which already owns 27% of the ChatGPT developer, is also planning to invest a comparable amount.
In total, as part of the new round of financing, writes FT, OpenAI expects to raise about $100 billion. Negotiations, in particular, are ongoing with sovereign investors, including the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority and the MGX fund from the United Arab Emirates, as well as with the Japanese SoftBank Group, which is going to invest $30 billion.
A new round of financing, writes FT, is necessary for OpenAI to expand, which, in particular, requires the construction of new data centers.
