Crypto investor and Muay Thai fighter Maxim Garbuzov from St. Petersburg disappeared in the resort city of Pattaya in Thailand. This was reported by RIA Novosti.
The head of one of the groups of Russian volunteers in Thailand, Svetlana Sherstoboeva, told the agency that 24-year-old Garbuzov disappeared on December 24, 2025, but this became known only on January 30, when the St. Petersburg resident’s brother contacted the public.
As local police established, on the day of his disappearance, Garbuzov left the house on a motorcycle with a large backpack, paid for a purchase in a store with his card in the evening, and then disappeared. The brother of the St. Petersburg resident said that the Russian was in touch with him constantly, but since December 24 he has never called or written.
The crypto investor’s phone is switched off, he does not respond to emails and messages on social networks, relatives of the missing person told volunteers. Garbuzov also stopped paying rent, after which the owner of the home he rents in Pattaya, following his family, contacted the police.
It is known that the St. Petersburg resident has been living in Thailand for the last two and a half years on a sports visa.
Gazbuzov’s disappearance is the second such case in Pattaya in a month, Baza said . According to the telegram channel, 30-year-old Russian Mikhail Emelyanov, who was developing a cannabis store, also disappeared in the resort town. It is alleged that the man disappeared shortly after he went to meet a business partner.
According to Baza, Emelyanov had disagreements with the co-owner of a cannabis shop, at whose request he lent ten thousand dollars to a certain Yaroslav for business development. The Russian’s mother told the Telegram channel that before the business meeting, her son feared for his life and asked to start searching for him if he did not get in touch within two hours.
