Russian woman freed from slavery in Myanmar

A student from Yekaterinburg was forced to work in a so-called “scam center.” Its prisoners are forced, under threat of torture, to call people from all over the world and sell them various fraudulent services. Now the girl, along with other foreigners, is being urgently evacuated, reports the Mash telegram channel.

21-year-old Madina D., according to Mash, became the sixth Russian woman to be enslaved in the Asian country of Myanmar. The girl was deceived into attending an interview, allegedly at a modeling agency, with the promise of a contract with a major brand and several thousand dollars.

However, upon arrival in Thailand, her phone and documents were forcibly taken from her, and then illegally transported to Myanmar to work as an illegal operator in a “scam center.” The student was released thanks to the joint efforts of the Thai and Myanmar police, as well as the Thai Foreign Ministry and the Myanmar Embassy in Bangkok.

Now the girl is in a migration center in the border town of Myawady. As the publication notes, slave owners will soon have to relocate to Africa, as the Myanmar authorities have organized a full-fledged military operation against the recruiters.

Thus, in November 2025, one of the largest camps was already destroyed . About 3,500 people from China, Vietnam, Cameroon and the CIS countries were held in slavery there. During the raid, the Thai army, together with the Myanmar military, destroyed several buildings that were used as slave centers.

Moreover, in such camps, the use of torture in relation to prisoners was repeatedly recorded: people were tortured with electric shockers, beaten with sticks. Some were threatened with murder. There are also known cases of foreigners being executed in Myanmar and then sold for their organs.
