A woman with two children jumped from the window of a high-rise building in the Leningrad region, the regional prosecutor's office reported .
According to the department, the incident occurred on Monday, February 2, at about 7:30 in the village of Novogrelovo, Lomonosov district. The woman jumped out of a 16th floor window along with her children born in 2024 and 2025.
“It was established that the mother died on the spot from her injuries; the minors were hospitalized with injuries at the children’s hospital in St. Petersburg,” said the prosecutor’s office of the Leningrad region.
The Investigative Committee opened a criminal case under the article of attempted murder of two young children. The department noted that the deceased was a foreigner, she was 23 years old. According to reports, the woman first threw her children out of the window and then jumped herself.
“The criminal intent [to kill her two children] was not completed due to circumstances beyond her control, since the children were provided with qualified medical care in a timely manner,” the Investigative Committee added.
The prosecutor's office reported that they consider the initiation of a criminal case for attempted murder to be “legal and justified.” The agency intends to check the work of local authorities of the prevention system.
Earlier, the body of nine-year-old Pasha, who disappeared on January 30 in St. Petersburg, was found in the Leningrad region. 38-year-old Pyotr Zhilkin, who was detained on February 2, confessed to the kidnapping and murder. According to media reports, during interrogation the man said that he offered to pay the boy for intimate services.
The child refused and demanded to pay him 500 thousand rubles for silence, the publications say. After this, Zhilkin allegedly killed him and drowned him in a pond.
