3 Doors Down lead singer Brad Arnold dies

The founder and lead singer of the American rock band 3 Doors Down, Brad Arnold, has died at the age of 47. This was reported on the group’s social networks.

The statement said Arnold died on February 7 in his sleep, surrounded by family, after a battle with cancer.

BBC News recalls that in May 2025, Arnold said that he was diagnosed with stage 4 kidney cancer. “I don’t have very good news for you today. A few weeks ago I got sick, then went to the hospital, was examined, and was diagnosed with clear cell renal cell carcinoma with metastases to the lung. This is the fourth stage, and it’s not very good,” the musician said then (quoted by Variety ).

"I'm not afraid, I'm really not afraid of it at all," Arnold said, adding that he was disappointed that the band would have to cancel their upcoming tour.

Brad Arnold founded 3 Doors Down in 1996 with guitarist Matt Roberts and bassist Todd Harrell. Arnold was then not only the vocalist, but also the drummer of the group. The following year, the group made their first demo recording, which included the song Kryptonite, written by Arnold while still in school. This track, re-recorded, was included on the band's debut album, The Better Life, released in 2000, and peaked at number three on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Since 2002's Away from the Sun, Arnold has become the band's sole vocalist.
