A suspect in the attempt on the life of the First Deputy Chief of the Main Directorate of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces, Vladimir Alekseev, was detained in Dubai, Interfax reports, citing a statement from the FSB.
According to the intelligence service, the detainee is Russian citizen Lyubomir Korba, born in 1960. The FSB calls him the direct perpetrator of the assassination attempt. UAE law enforcement authorities extradited him to Russia.
In addition, Russian citizen Viktor Vasin, born in 1959, was detained in the case of the assassination attempt on Alekseev in Moscow. Also involved in the case is Zinaida Serebritskaya, born in 1971, who left for Ukraine, the FSB said. The intelligence service calls them accomplices of the crime.
The Investigative Committee reports that Lyubomir Korba, born in 1960, is a native of the Ternopil region. According to investigators, he arrived in Moscow at the end of December 2025 on instructions from the Ukrainian special services to carry out a terrorist attack. His alleged accomplice, Viktor Vasin, has been charged with illegal weapons trafficking and assault on the life of a serviceman. At the scene of the attack, investigators found a Makarov pistol with a silencer installed and three cartridges.
