Mstislav Chernov won the Directors Guild of America Award for the film “2000 meters to Andreevka”

Ukrainian documentarian and director Mstislav Chernov won the 78th Directors Guild of America Award.

He received an award as best documentary director for the film “2000 meters to Andreevka.” This is Chernov's second award at the Directors Guild of America Awards. In 2024, he became a laureate in a similar category for the film “20 days in Mariupol.”

The film “2000 meters to Andreevka” tells how the Ukrainian Armed Forces liberated Andreevka, a village not far from Bakhmut. In September 2023, Ukrainian forces occupied the town in a months-long operation, but it is now under Russian control.

Paul Thomas Anderson (Battle After Battle) won the award for Best Director in a Feature Film. The winner for best feature debut was Charlie Poehlinger (“The Plague”); best director for a drama series went to Amanda Marsalis (“Pitt”); and best director for a comedy series went to Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg (“Movie Studio”).
