The FSB said that the suspects in the attempt on the life of GRU deputy chief Alekseev confessed

The FSB said that Lyubomir Korba and Viktor Vasin, suspects in the attempted murder of GRU deputy chief Vladimir Alekseev, admitted guilt and gave evidence. This is stated in a press release from the intelligence service.

According to the FSB, Korba was the perpetrator, and Vasin was his accomplice. The ordering party for the murder, as stated by the intelligence service, was the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU).

Korba was recruited into the SBU in August 2025 in Ternopil, according to an FSB press release. According to the department, the Ukrainian special service was helped in this by Polish security forces, who “involved” Korba’s son, Polish citizen Lubosz.

The suspect underwent shooting training at a training ground in Kyiv, was tested with a polygraph, and then sent to Russia, the FSB said. All this, according to the intelligence service, took less than a month - the press release says that Korba went to the Russian Federation in August 2025.

From a hiding place in the Moscow region, the suspect received a pistol and an electronic key to the entrance of the house in which Alekseev lived, the FSB noted. According to the intelligence service, Korba spied on the deputy chief of the GRU, for which he received monthly payments in cryptocurrency. The person featured in the video says that he was paid two thousand dollars a month.

“In December, I received instructions to liquidate GRU General Alekseev. For completing this task they promised to pay me 30 thousand US dollars. After the assassination attempt was carried out, I was told to go to the airport and board a plane to Dubai, where there was another ticket to Romania,” Corba said.

His accomplice, according to the FSB, was Viktor Vasin, who rented housing for Korba and bought him a travel pass, the FSB claims.

The intelligence service described the alleged accomplice as a supporter of FBK who participated in Moscow rallies and “Smart Voting.” Vasin allegedly spoke out on social networks against amendments to the Constitution and in support of the leader of the Left Front, Sergei Udaltsov.

The FSB press release also mentions the third defendant in the case of the assassination attempt on Alekseev - Zinaida Serebritskaya. According to the intelligence service, she rented an apartment in the building where the general lived and hid an electronic key to the entrance door in a cache near Moscow. After this, Serebritskaya left for Ukraine, the FSB said.

The day before, the intelligence service reported that the UAE security forces detained Cobra and handed him over to Russia. Later it became known that on February 7, the Zamoskvoretsky Court of Moscow arrested the suspect.
