A criminal case was opened against the former leader of the Cockroaches group, Dmitry Spirin, for evading the duties of a “foreign agent” (Article 330.1 of the Criminal Code). The capital department of the Investigative Committee reported this to TASS.
The issue of putting Spirin on the wanted list is now being considered. The artist does not live in Russia.
The Moscow prosecutor's office demanded that a criminal case be opened against Spirin in December. According to the department, the musician posts online without indicating his status as a “foreign agent.”
The Ministry of Justice included Spirin in the register of “foreign agents” in June 2024. According to the department, the artist “disseminated false information aimed at creating a negative image of Russia and the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, and performed on the platforms of foreign agents and foreign media.”
Dmitry Spirin announced the dissolution of the Cockroaches group in April 2022 amid the mass cancellation of concerts throughout Russia. Soon after this he left the country.
