The FSB announced that it had detained the third defendant in the case of the assassination attempt on GRU Lieutenant General Vladimir Alekseev, who was attacked in Moscow on February 6. 44-year-old Russian citizen Pavel Vasin, the son of another defendant in the case, Viktor Vasin, was detained.

The department stated that Pavel Vasin confessed. He allegedly said that the other defendants in the case, Lyubomir Korba and Viktor Vasin (Pavel’s father), “in the interests of the Ukrainian special services” conducted surveillance on two more high-ranking employees of the Russian Ministry of Defense. The FSB did not name their names.

According to the department, Pavel Vasin, in preparation for the assassination attempt, provided a car to other defendants in the case, bought a DVR and a tracker for spying on Russian military personnel, and also helped collect information about them on the Internet.

The FSB press service distributed a video with Pavel Vasin. It is unknown under what circumstances the recording was made. On the recording, he says that in September 2025 he was recruited by Korba “for the SBU” and carried out his tasks. He also states that he “carried out preparations for the assassination attempt on General Alekseev.”

Pavel Vasin is a professional military officer, an officer in the Russian Armed Forces, reported “Important Stories”. In March 2023, he left the company. A year later, the United States included the ANC on the sanctions list. Washington says the company develops and operates automated optoelectronic systems. It is also known that the ANC received grants from Roscosmos.

A 54-year-old native of the Lugansk region and citizen of the Russian Federation, Zinaida Serebritskaya, is also charged with the assassination attempt. It is believed that she lived in the same house with the general and collected information about him. In Russia, Serebritskaya was arrested in absentia and put on the international wanted list.
