The new Mummy starring Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz will be released in 2028

Universal Pictures announced that it has signed a contract with Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz to star in the fourth installment of the Mummy franchise, The Hollywood Reporter reported on February 10.

Photos of Fraser and Weiss from the filming of the first part of “The Mummy” (1999) appeared on Universal’s social networks with the words “Daddy and Mommy are back.” Fraser starred in the first three parts of the film franchise, Weiss in the first two.

The new part will be directed by Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett (“Scream” and “I’m Going to Look”).

Universal has announced that the new "The Mummy" will be released on May 19, 2028.

• Brendan Fraser was considered one of the most sought-after actors in the late 1990s, but due to harassment experienced in 2003, he practically stopped acting. Fraser “restarted” his career after a 10-year pause. In 2023, he won an Oscar for his work in Darren Aronofsky's The Whale.
