Users began to complain that one of the most popular VPN protocols, VLESS, began to work intermittently. This is associated with the actions of Roskomnadzor (RKN), which probably began to use artificial intelligence algorithms for more effective blocking, the DTF says .
“Presumably, RKN is actively using AI to detect VPN traffic. Complaints are coming from different regions of Russia, both from private users and from VPN service operators,” write RuNet users.
At the same time, the authors of the “VPN Generator” project note that the blocking turned out to be heterogeneous: for some Russians, no services open, while for others, the VPN connection, on the contrary, continues to work stably. This is explained by the assembly principle of the VLESS protocol.
In the project it is called a constructor, which is called in one word, but in reality it consists of different code configurations depending on which team was involved in the assembly.
“One team assembled configuration A, the other - configuration B. Outside they call it “VLESS”, but inside they are different assemblies. You can quickly change this or that part and quickly restore the availability of the service,” explains VPN Generator.
The project believes that the new intervention of the RKN will not be able to completely destroy the VLESS connection, and VPN services and “technically competent teams” will adapt to the new blocking methods.
Earlier it became known that a Russian working in the IT sector had learned to bypass Internet blocks without using a VPN. To do this, he needed to rent an apartment in the Kaliningrad region and pay several tens of thousands of rubles.
