“God ex Machina” on the political stage

For the world to move from the point of peace, the appearance of frostbitten villains and their initial triumph is necessary

“God Ex Machina” is when, in an ancient theatrical drama, an actor wearing a god mask appears from a special stage device and makes radical changes to the current action. “God ex machina” is a phenomenon of an unpredictable, supernatural factor. When all human options lead to a dead end, he comes onto the scene.

Historical time also arises only when “god ex machina” appears. Everyday causality breaks down and once hidden, repressed forces come to the surface. Most often these are extremely impartial, immoral forces, but if you do not give them a way out, they will turn into a powerful internal poison. Such poison is guaranteed to kill both the organism of society and the organism of culture.

However, the “god ex machina” is not a healer, not a cure for diseases. He is a symptom of the disease that has come to the surface. It does not resolve conflicts or remove contradictions. He exposes them. And thus opens up a chance either for healing or for the conscious acceptance of a logical end.

“God ex Machina” is a push from the transcendental, which will always be paradoxical, will always be “suddenly.” Without his appearance, nothing significant happens at all.

There is no “god ex machina” - and all institutional patterns are doomed to only multiply automatic, faceless actions. To multiply subjectless, weak-willed souls who refused to manage themselves and surrendered to circumstances. But “God ex machina” appears for them as unbearable circumstances.

"God ex machina" is a destroyer of pure extension. Once upon a time he appeared in the images of heroes and exalted teachers. Now, in our day, his incarnations are narcissistic tricksters and executioners. Each era probably gets the stimulation it deserves. But, one way or another, they bring an end to extension and peace, and thereby awaken subjectivity. Where she can awaken. Incarnations of “god ex machina”, phenomena of the “suddenly” principle.

And yet, for the most part, these phenomena are hopelessly unpleasant.

Everything is like in Shakespearean tragedies: for the action to begin to spin and the world to move from its point of rest, the appearance of frostbitten villains, the procession and initial triumph of immoral mutants is necessary... And only against this background will the human being begin to awaken.

Although it’s not a fact that it will start. It is not a fact that a victorious hero will emerge in the end. But this is how everything works in the space of tragedy. And this is how the space of history works. And most likely, the ending will not bring relief.

However, the meaning of the tragedy is not relief. As is the meaning of the story.

But when you realize all this and lose hope that it could be better, relief comes in a strange way. This is perhaps the biggest mystery of God ex machina.
